The US Congress is:  The Best Government Your Money Can Buy !

Jerome Peloquin

In 1865, after a bitter and acrimonious Civil War, Union Army General and Statesman George Schultz made, in my opinion, the definitive statement of a Patriot.  This, from a man who had seen the blood and carnage of war and who had proven his patriotism under fire !  He said, and I quote:

My Country, right or wrong.  If right, to be kept right.  If wrong, to be made right.

I am neither a pacifist, nor a war monger.  At 17, like other lost teens of my generation, searching for a new life out of the slums of South Boston, I took the radical step of joining the U.S.Marines.  I spent 6 years there and it was my home.  I learned life's lessons. Some of them were very hard lessons.  I was taught the meaning of duty, honor, and courage.  I had excellent role models as most of our NCO's were WWII veterans.

in America, Citizenship is entitlement.  We are not required to perform any task or engage in any activity other than getting a social security card.  It is an unfortunate fact that as human beings our behavioral characteristics are such that we do not value that for which there is no apparent cost!   In fact, most of us do NOT value our citizenship!  How dare I say that?  One major reason:  WE DO NOT VOTE!

Oh, we give lip service to the value of citizenship.  We crow loudly about our rights as citizens but we have been put to bed by the soporific of consumerism. We do not even know that many of the rights enjoyed by our parents are no longer available to us, today.  In effect, our nation has been stolen from us and our rights as citizens eroded away until we have now find ourselves living in a potentially hostile environment, our civil rights and the bill of rights abridged by the specter of terrorism and a government dominated by the sons of the power elite ... we have sold our birthright for a WalMart ... yes, I know, a bit too glib but the fact remains.

We have been sold out!  Ask Bernie Sanders and also Donald Trump who literally told a panel of Congressmen that  he paid off every one of them AND ... on National Television.   Ours is the best government your (their) money can buy !  Today, no Congressman leaves office in poverty.  Unlike Harry Truman who left the Presidency a relatively poor man.  The Congress have passed laws that assure their ascendency and that of their progeny for at least two generations.  AND ... they have removed themselves from the risk of insider trading and can capitalize on their knowledge of stock market moves in advance ... by this alone the congressional membership picks our pockets daily.

In the first half of the 19th Century, The Taft and Roosevelt (Teddy)  passed laws to protect us from monopolies that wracked and impoverished 18th century working men and women.  Today, the 1% have either by deceit or, persuasion, or influence caused many of these laws to lie fallow and unenforced.  They have skewed the tax, banking, and finance laws to their advantage and our congress has recently allowed that same elite to rob our banks and, in one single act of irresponsible greed, destroy the middle class.

Here's my final quote:  It comes from The Social Anthropologist Dr. Margaret Mead who said,

"Never think that a small group of dedicated people cannot change the world.  Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

And ... that's why we have formed:  SUSTAIN America PAC , a political action committee dedicated to fundamental and profound system change ... Prove your Patriotism.  Join us!
